Silkworms are shipped with just enough food to survive shipping. Please add additional food if you want to keep your silkworms longer and grow them to big size.

Silkworm Care Instructions

Thank you for your order! To keep your silkworms healthy and alive, follow these easy steps:

🐛 1. Keep them at room temperature in an open top container.

No need for heat or light. Ideal range: 70–78°F (21–26°C). Avoid direct sunlight. 

Open top containers work best for silkworms. Lid with small holes is not enough for silkworms and will die eventually.

🍃 2. Feed them daily

Use our special chow to keep your worms healthy and nutritious for your pet. Follow packet instructions to make feeding gel. Grate a small amount of the refrigerated gel on top of the worms. Feed daily or every other day, the more you feed them the faster they grow. If you run out of chow/gel, grated carrots may be given, their body and or poop will turn slightly orange, that is normal. 

🧼 3. Keep it clean

Gently remove old dried food and poop (frass) every 1–2 days to avoid mold and bacteria.

📦 4. Give them space

If crowded, move some to another clean container. The more space the more they grow.

❗ DO NOT REFRIGERATE

Silkworms are sensitive to cold and will die if chilled.

This helps avoid delays over the weekend when packages can get stuck in warehouses or trucks without proper care.

Our standard shipping is USPS, but faster or alternate options (like UPS or FedEx) are available at checkout. Prices available at checkout.

• Ice packs or heat packs added depending on current weather
• Vents for airflow and secure mesh to prevent injury

Please retrieve your package as soon as it’s delivered.
Silkworms are sensitive to heat and cold. Leaving them in a mailbox, on a porch, or at a front door in extreme temperatures can harm or kill them. For best results, track your shipment and be ready to bring them inside immediately.
